Learners may assume that TikTok or Instagram are easier routes to income than YouTube because they see viral content on those platforms more frequently. The monetisation threshold data often surprises them. Emphasise that platform choice should be driven by where the target audience actually spends time and which format suits the content, not which platform the creator personally uses most.
Strong responses will justify platform choices with specific data rather than personal preference. Look for learners who understand the difference between reach (how many people could see the content) and monetisation (how that translates to income). The platform strategy in Step 5 should be specific enough that it could guide a real decision.
Support: Focus on comparing YouTube and TikTok only using a provided data table template. Extension: Research how MrBeast uses multiple platforms simultaneously and whether his strategy on TikTok and Instagram differs from his YouTube approach in terms of content format and hook technique.
