Educator / Parent Notes

Age, Stage and Prior Learning: P1-P3 (ages 4 to 7), Foundation level. This is about genuine self-awareness and balance, not restriction or shame around screen use, keep the tone positive throughout.
Before You Start: No specific materials needed beyond paper and drawing materials for Step 5.
How to Open This: "Today we're Screen Time Superheroes! Screens are great, and so are lots of other things. Let's find out what a good balance looks like for you."
Scheduling: Roughly 30 minutes total, works well as a standalone session.
If a Pupil Gets Stuck: If a child struggles to think of non-screen activities, prompt with specific examples: playing outside, a favourite toy, reading with a grown-up.
For Fast Finishers: Ask fast finishers to think of one new non-screen activity they'd like to try this week.
Marking Guidance: There's no right answer or ideal balance here. Look for genuine self-awareness, can the child name real things they enjoy on both sides.
