Many learners will arrive at this challenge thinking the only careers in football are playing or coaching. The aim is to dramatically expand that picture. The World Cup ecosystem includes technology companies, law firms, marketing agencies, academic researchers, broadcast organisations, governing bodies and NGOs. Encourage learners to explore roles they had not previously considered alongside ones they already know about.
Strong responses will be specific about what each role actually involves day to day, not just its title. Look for learners who can explain what a sports data scientist actually does in a working week, not just that they "work with data." The skills audit and gap analysis in Step 3 is particularly important: learners who can identify specific gaps and propose concrete steps to address them are demonstrating genuine self-awareness and strategic thinking.
